Pharmacist - Retail jobs in Columbia, MD
Pharmacist - Retail reviews prescriptions and compounds and dispenses prescribed drugs according to regulatory requirements and guidelines in a retail environment. Responds to customers questions about medications and advises about drug safety and potential interactions. Being a Pharmacist - Retail manages the transfer of prescriptions, incoming physician calls, and drug utilization review. Ensures that pharmacy's patient and financial records are correctly input and maintained. Additionally, Pharmacist - Retail requires a doctorate degree in pharmacy (Pharm.D.). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires registered pharmacist(RPh). Requires pharmacy practice. Pharmacist - Retail's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. MedStar Health has an immediate opportunity for a part-time (24 hours per week) Pharmacist to join their retail/outpatient location on the campus of MedStar Franklins Square Medical Center. The primary hours for this position are 1 pm - 6 pm Monday - Friday, with rotating weekends.
Evaluates drugs prescribed by physicians for appropriateness of dose, therapeutic efficacy, allergy, drug interaction, and contraindications; processes prescriptions through insurance company and handles DUR rejects, pre-authorizations, etc.; performs final check on all prescriptions, ensuring accurate input, labeling, and dispensing; and, provides counseling and drug information to patients and physicians.
