Pharmacist Manager manages a group of pharmacists who, under the direction of a physician, compound and dispense prescribed drugs in a retail or healthcare facility environment. Oversees daily pharmacy operations. Being a Pharmacist Manager monitors and audits drug inventory, ensures compliance with all regulatory guidelines and reporting. Requires a bachelor's degree in pharmacy or a Pharm.D. Additionally, Pharmacist Manager requires Registered Pharmacist (RPh). Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Pharmacist Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Pharmacist Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Responsible to perform the duties of a licensed pharmacist. Ensures the safety and security of merchandise. Ensures adherence to laws and regulations governing the sale of pharmaceuticals, and maintains compliance with State Board of Pharmacy regulations as well as local, state, and federal requirements as it pertains to prescriptions.


    Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

    • Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security and inventory of controlled substances, and disposal of drugs designated as hazardous waste.
    • Receives and reviews prescriptions issued by prescribing practitioner to assure accuracy, appropriateness of medication, and determine formulas and ingredients needed.
    • Ensures compliance with laws governing the practice of pharmacy and distribution of drugs.
    • Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interaction, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
    • Engages in consultation with prescriber regarding interpretation of prescription information as needed.
    • Ensures that stock and supplies necessary for customer care are ordered, stored, and handled in an organized and efficient manner in the absence of the Lead Pharmacist and/or manager.
    • Prepares, fills, and compounds drug and orders by prescribers and other authorized personnel.
    • Offers free counseling to customers on how to use devices such as blood pressure or diabetes monitors.
    • Strives to improve efficiency and reduce costs in pharmacy area.
    • Plans, implements, and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, and ensures quality, security, and proper disposal.



    Requirements:

    • Requires BA/BS degree in Pharmacy or Pharm D; 1 year experience working as a Pharmacist in a retail setting; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
    • Valid Registered Pharmacist license required.
    • 5 years of experience working as a Pharmacist in a retail setting preferred.
    • Experience with pharmacy adjudication platform.
    • Bilingual preferred.
    • Basic compounding knowledge
    • Active E-FORSCE profile and associated knowledge on how to reference and interpret data
    • Experience working in a high-volume pharmacy, ability to verify prescriptions with accuracy
    • Pharmacist must be familiar with CII controlled substance dispensing and laws surrounding controlled substances in Florida
    • Experience working with McKesson EnterpriseRx preferred. Experience working on a Central Fill pharmacy workflow preferred.
    • Ability to multi-task in a high-volume environment (able to verify over 500 prescriptions a day)


    Additional Details:

    • Onsite Monday- Friday, 9:30am- 6pm
