    Description

    Job Description: This position oversees our outpatient pharmacy to ensure all pharmaceutical standards and practices are maintained for our patients. The employee performs the full range of pharmaceutical activities in a Federally Qualified Health Care Center. Extensive independent judgment is required to carry out assignments that have a substantial impact on services or programs. The availability of guidelines is limited and theories, principles, and practices of the profession must be used to determine appropriate courses of action. This position is responsible for referring our patients to other medical professionals in the clinic or outside pharmacies if applicable to ensure accessibility to comprehensive care and treatment is available.

     

     ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTION AND DUTIES

    1. Serves patients by preparing medication, giving pharmacological information to health care teams and monitoring patient drug therapies.

    2. Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting provider orders while detecting any therapeutic incompatibilities.

    3. Dispenses medications by packaging and labeling pharmaceuticals.

    4. Organizes and oversees technician’s workflow and verifying order entry.

    5. Provides pharmacological information to health care professionals and counsels patients on drug therapies.

    6. Complies with state and federal laws as regulated by state and federal boards, the drug enforcement administration and the food and drug administration and staying current with new legislation.

    7. Conforms to Medicare, Medicaid and HIPAA regulations.

    8. Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection control protocols and supports a safe and clean working environment.

    9. Stays up to date on pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.

    10. Maintains records of all transactions of the pharmacy necessary to ensure control and accountability for all drugs as required by applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

    11. Seek new ways to grow, collaborate with others and deliver quality outcomes.

    12. May evaluate and verify employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and the review of work techniques and resolving related work problems.

    13. Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications


    1. Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited university or college.

    2. One year of experience as a pharmacist; working in a dental or medical clinic preferred.

     

    Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications

    1. Possession of an active Pharmacy license in the State of Michigan.

    5. Skilled at widely used computer software i.e., Microsoft Office and healthcare software used for filling prescriptions and updating patient records.

    6. Knowledge of training and instruction techniques.

    7. Knowledge of 340B requirements.

    8. Ability to maintain records, prepare reports, and conduct correspondence related to the work.

    9. Skilled in effectively communicating with others.

    10. Ability to maintain favorable public relations.

    11. Ability to instruct and direct others.

    12. Knowledge of the activities of educational and social agencies as related to local health.

    13. Knowledge of Medicaid standards and policies.

    14. Ability to advise health care professionals and lay persons on pharmacological policies, techniques, and procedures.

    15. Ability to plan and conduct training sessions, workshops, and meetings.

    16. Ability to organize and coordinate the work of others.

    17. Capable of setting priorities and assigning work to other professionals.
