Position Description: Geologist
**Work Location: Atlanta, GA **

Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview
Responsibilities
- Projects will include groundwater, surface water, soil, and air sampling; environmental site assessments; regulatory permitting; subsurface site characterizations involving drilling, soil classification, and bedrock mapping; and hazardous waste site characterization and remediation
- Collect, extract, identify, and compile environmental data from soil sampling, soil gas sampling, groundwater sampling, stormwater sampling, boring logs, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys
- Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but is not limited to, the maintenance of sample collection, trench and boring, laboratory documentation, written procedures, monitoring systems, and logbooks
- Understand various regulatory environments and associated technical requirements
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Assisting in obtaining permits and approvals for projects
- Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
- Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
- Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
- Knowledge of business office procedures.
- Attention to detail and documentation.
- Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees and the public.
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external partners including clients, sub consultants, and utility companies
- Must be well organized and detail-oriented.
- Excellent time and project management skills
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, similar earth science
- Entry Level position- Less than 3 years of experience with geology or environmental science knowledge
- Previous internship experience with a civil engineering design firm
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external partners including clients, sub consultants, and utility companies
