    Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Missouri Geological Survey and will be located at the Missouri Geological Survey, 111 Fairgrounds Road, in Rolla, MO

    What you’ll do:

    • Perform office, fieldwork, digital mapping, data collection, data analysis and interpretation related to STATEMAP Grant or other funding sources.
    • Conduct geologic field mapping and create maps that describe and classify surface and subsurface rocks, fractures, faults, landforms, surficial materials, stratigraphy, and paleontology.
    • Arrange for access to private property to view outcrops to ensure adequate data collection.
    • Generate project-specific geologic maps using ArcGIS software.

    All you need for success:

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in geology, or closely related field and have completed, at a minimum, 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of credit in geology including coursework required by the Missouri Board of Geologist Registration.
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds, work alone in remote areas, walk long distances in hilly and rugged terrain, climb steep slopes, carry geologic specimens out of the field, shovel, hand auger, and hammer.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with geologic mapping or stratigraphy.
    • Experience working with ArcGIS or similar geospatial software.
    • Experience managing data and database maintenance.
