POSITION SUMMARY:

MPLX Gathering & Processing (G&P) Operations is seeking an Operations Engineer to support pipelines, natural gas processing, and field compression assets. This position will report to the Operations Engineering Manager.  The Operations Engineer will provide engineering/technical support, project management and oversight, and technical stewardship to support safe, compliant, reliable, and efficient operations.

This position is part of a job family with multiple grade levels. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides engineering support, technical stewardship, leadership, and oversight to Gathering & Processing (G&P) operations.

• Troubleshoots operational issues and optimizes processes utilizing sound engineering practices.

• Utilizes modern technical tools and software to perform engineering calculations and modeling.

• Develops, implements, and manages capital and expense projects for business unit while adhering to budgets and project management processes; supervises contract personnel for project development and execution as required.

• Develops project processes, economic evaluations, scoping, costing, and approval documentation.

• Participates in Process Safety Management processes (PHAs, MOCs, etc.) as applicable.

• Partners with company and industry subject matter experts to maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable DOT, OSHA, EPA, and other environmental/safety regulations; ensures area of responsibility is complaint with all industry and company standards.

• Must be capable of providing equipment specifications per MPLX standards and order appropriate materials for projects.

• Must have knowledge of natural gas processing, gathering/compression, and operations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited school is required; major disciplines of Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, Civil, or similar are preferred.

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in engineering experience is required; background in natural gas strongly preferred.

• A valid driver's license is required.

• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of individuals/employees.

• Travel Expected:  25%

• Must be comfortable working in a field-based environment with operations.
