Diagnoses disorders, including nature and extent, determines the appropriate course of treatment, and discusses these treatment plans with the child or adolescent and the responsible adults. Being a Pediatric Psychiatrist prescribes medication when necessary. May need to act as an advocate for the best interests of the patient. Primary Purpose | The Staff Psychiatrist is a member of the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) team of licensed psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, licensed marriage and family therapists, psychologists, and psychology trainees in collaboration with Student Health Services (SHS). Together, this team practices in the unique environment of college health and directly contributes to student success by delivering integrated mental healthcare to all Pacific students utilizing the services of wellness centers across our three campuses (Stockton, Sacramento, and San Francisco). The Staff Psychiatrist provides the highest quality of mental health services to students while supporting the vision of the University to make student learning a central goal by facilitating the psychiatric well-being of the student body. The Staff Psychiatrist may have the opportunity to supervise psychiatric residents in their 4th year of training. Partial remote work will also be available; this position is primarily located on the Stockton campus. |
