Pediatric Psychiatrist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders affecting children, adolescents, and their families. Diagnoses disorders, including nature and extent, determines the appropriate course of treatment, and discusses these treatment plans with the child or adolescent and the responsible adults. Being a Pediatric Psychiatrist prescribes medication when necessary. May need to act as an advocate for the best interests of the patient. Additionally, Pediatric Psychiatrist requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director. DePaul Community Health Centers (formerly Daughters of Charity Health Centers) operates multiple Federally Qualified Health Centers in the Greater New Orleans area. DCHC is committed to improving the health status of communities and continues a long tradition of health ministry. DCHC is seeking a full-time staff Psychiatrist to provide clinical care for Community Health Centers. The Psychiatrist treats or directs treatment of recipients, utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications. The Psychiatrist operates as part of a team with other clinic providers and support staff in accordance with the scope of DCHC operations.
