Pediatric Psychiatrist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders affecting children, adolescents, and their families. Diagnoses disorders, including nature and extent, determines the appropriate course of treatment, and discusses these treatment plans with the child or adolescent and the responsible adults. Being a Pediatric Psychiatrist prescribes medication when necessary. May need to act as an advocate for the best interests of the patient. Additionally, Pediatric Psychiatrist requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director. WHAT YOU'LL DO:
The Psychiatrist provides individual medical psychiatric services for a diverse and underserved patient population. Patients will be expected to require a moderate level of care. The psychiatrist will operate under an integrated behavioral health model and provide support to the primary care providers as well as Behavioral Health staff. The psychiatrist may be asked to supervise the clinical aspects of practice with designated collaborating mid-level providers, nurses, and/or clinic assistants. Additionally, the psychiatrist will provide guidance to the psychiatric services provided at Elica.

The work environment is characteristic of a medical clinic environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must also possess hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
