St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Seattle, WA is searching for a Supervisor of Facilities and Maintenance. The person in this role ensures the facilities of our Church and School are safe and well maintained. They will perform minor repairs when needed, oversee all construction projects, and manage custodial staff and volunteers. This is a part time position with no benefits. The range for this position is $33-$37 per hour. Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Represents the parish when dealing with outside contractors in all major maintenance, construction and renovation projects.  Identifies outside contractors, vendors and service providers and negotiates contracts.
2. Purchases supplies and equipment from vendors.  Ensures the maintenance of an inventory of cleaning and hospitality supplies and equipment and reorders as appropriate.
3. Directs safety programs for St. Alphonsus parish and school and ensures campus is secure when not in use. 
4. Supervises maintenance and janitorial staff and volunteers.  Establishes work priorities and provides training and work direction as needed.  Performs minor and preventive maintenance as necessary. Assures that heating units are in proper working order. 
5. Performs preventative maintenance to buildings and grounds to minimize plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and heating system failures.
6. Coordinates energy management systems.
7. Assures the parish grounds are maintained in a clean and safe manner.  
8. Sets up for special events (e. g. chairs, tables and other event requirements).  Assures necessary facilities-related support for programs and special events.  
9. Serves as a lead member of Parish Maintenance & Safety Committees.  Along with committee, implements annual and long-range work plans regarding plant operations and maintenance.
10. Collaborates with pastor and administrative staff on the preparation and administration of annual operating and capital budgets.
11. Assures maintenance of equipment owned by the parish and school.  Directs the preparation and upkeep of asset inventory.
12. Coordinates the sale or disposal of surplus equipment/items to be shredded/etc.
13. Monitors/maintains school bell systems, emergency alert system, and public reader board.
14. Available on-call for emergencies.
15. Maintains current resources and vendors to respond to emergencies.
16. Communicates daily with supervisor.
17. Participates in staff meetings and retreats.
18. Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

College degree preferred but not required.

Demonstrated history of maintenance/facilities work. 

Ability to prioritize multiple projects and manage time effectively.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both supervisor, other staff/volunteers and vendors.
