Payroll Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of payroll processing operations. Ensures accurate calculation of wages and processing of tax withholding and company deductions. Being a Payroll Supervisor prepares statistical reports on employee pay, commissions and bonuses; vacation, sick, disability and workers compensation leave; taxes, withholding, etc. Oversees the distribution of paychecks and direct deposit programs. Provides training to team on policies, regulations, and processes. Additionally, Payroll Supervisor assists team members with resolving errors or responding to inquiries. May be the first level escalation for complaints or complex error resolution. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Payroll Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Payroll Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.     Prime Source Foods is the largest independent protein distributor in New England and Eastern New York and we are excited to announce that we are currently seeking a Payroll Manager to join our team! 


    This individual will be responsible for managing our payroll system through Paylocity and leading the payroll function for the states of New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Maine. This is a regular, full-time exempt from overtime position in our Londonderry, NH location and will report to the Chief Financial Officer.

    Requirements

    • Implement, maintain, and review weekly payroll processing system to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salary & hourly pay, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
    • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
    • Manage journal entries for the ERP system (complete criteria for GL mapping report from payroll provider)
    • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions (including W4s, and W2s)
    • Ensures compliance with federal, multi-state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws in the states of New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Maine and best practices, including Bureau of Labor Statistics quarterly reports.
    • Benefits administration: including 401K, FSA, 5500 filings (for 401k)
    • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
    • Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
    • Other tasks may be assigned from time to time.

    Skills

    • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent understanding of multi-location payroll and taxes.
    • Proficient with payroll software/ HRIS (e.g. Paylocity) and MS Office (especially Excel)
    • An analytical mind, good math skills, and strong problem-solving skills.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field
    • Three to five years of related experience
