Job Summary:
The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for managing the payroll department's daily operations and ensuring that accurate payrolls are processed for all employees in a timely manner. This position will manage the payroll staff, oversee payroll processing and reporting, provide customer service to internal and external customers, and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws. The responsibilities of this position also require a high level of confidentiality to be maintained at all times.
Primary Duties:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the payroll department, including the processing of payroll every two weeks and monthly commission payments.
- Review and analyze employee time cards, payroll records, and reports to ensure the accuracy of totals before submitting the payroll run and final payment.
- Ensure payroll is processed timely and accurately in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. Complete research on related regulations to ensure proper employee setup.
- Answer questions and provide customer service to internal and external customers regarding payroll matters.
- Ensure compliance with payroll-related regulations regarding wage garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Train and supervise payroll staff and ensure payroll staff is organized to meet deadlines.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all employee information and payroll records.
- Enhance documented procedures to ensure all processes are covered in detail.
- Work with ADP to resolve system issues, payroll notice adjustments, and any other related system enhancements.
- Collaborate with various internal teams to create payroll reports and represent the payroll team in any ADP-specific projects.
- Provide reports and answer questions from external and internal auditors regarding payroll processes.
- Evaluate internal controls relating to payroll processing to ensure approvals and reconcilements are appropriately segregated.
- Assist with administration of access to the bank's budget and financial reporting system. Stay current with manager role changes and update related access in the budget system to ensure the employee has appropriate access as determined by the Controller.
- Work with the Controller to process payroll-related functions within the budget system.
- Provide backup assistance for other payroll positions.
- Assist with accounting team tasks as directed by the Controller. This may include reporting, budgeting, month end processing, recording journal entries, and serving as a backup to other accounting roles.
- Know by name and face as many customers and employees as possible, calling them by name as often as possible.

Job Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or related field.
- Five or more years of professional payroll experience in a corporate environment is required.
- Candidate with the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in related payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multi-task and meet specific deadlines in a fast-paced environment, while working with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with others throughout the organization.
- High degree of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate effectively with others. The employee must be able to use a keyboard, mouse, telephone and other office equipment. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to review detailed documents and read computer screens.
Lifting Requirements:
- Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Roles are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
