Payroll Director directs all aspects of payroll processing operations. Establishes and oversees payroll processes and procedures for routine processing, tax reporting and internal financial requirements. Being a Payroll Director designs short-term and long-term strategies to achieve continuous improvement and efficiencies in payroll processing and delivery operations. Keeps stakeholders informed about the status of payroll laws and regulations and develops implementation plans for required changes to operations. Additionally, Payroll Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Payroll Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Payroll Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. EDUCATION: Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related area preferred. Additional education/ experience may be required specific to area of assignment.
EXPERIENCE: Twenty-four (24) months experience and/or any combination of training/experience related to data entry, payroll, accounting and assembling/filing data (previous payroll experience preferred). Demonstrated organizational, communication and interpersonal skills required to meet job demands. Experience with PC based spreadsheet and financial software required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: High volume data entry requires manual dexterity, attention to detail, visual acuity to operate standard office equipment and sitting for long periods.
