Payroll Director directs all aspects of payroll processing operations. Establishes and oversees payroll processes and procedures for routine processing, tax reporting and internal financial requirements. Being a Payroll Director designs short-term and long-term strategies to achieve continuous improvement and efficiencies in payroll processing and delivery operations. Keeps stakeholders informed about the status of payroll laws and regulations and develops implementation plans for required changes to operations. Additionally, Payroll Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Payroll Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Description
The Payroll Specialist conducts all pre-payroll preparations, processes payroll, and conducts all post-payroll operations on a semi-monthly payroll cycle. The Payroll Specialist handles all payroll-related functions, ensures the company’s compliance with payroll laws and policies, and audits payroll data and documents as needed. This position performs other duties related to payroll and finance including updating employee records, recording employment status and tax changes, assisting with payroll deductions and assessments, and processing payroll-related tasks.
Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Perform daily payroll data management and processing.
· Conduct all pre-process payroll preparations and post-process payroll operations.
· Ensure compliance with labor and policy requirements for timely and accurate payment of hours worked.
· Adhere to strict deadlines for processing and submitting payroll on a semi-monthly cycle.
· Process final paychecks for separations of employment as per federal and state mandated timelines.
· Handle various payroll-related inquiries from employees and resolve issues as needed.
· Audit payroll and tax-related documents to ensure validity and compliance.
· Input and audit supplemental payments for employees, including but not limited to mileage and training reimbursements.
· Maintain information and documentation regarding payroll adjustments, including but not limited to employee status changes, tax changes, and deduction adjustments.
· Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all payroll data, company, and employee information.
· Communicate via phone, email and/or text message with employees and external contacts, exuding excellent customer service skills, knowledge, and professionalism.
· Utilize CRM system to document phone calls, emails, and text messages with strong attention to detail.
· Use software to create documents, spreadsheets, and communications that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the payroll process.
· Perform other duties as assigned.

· Strong auditing skills.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Bachelor’s degree or certificate in payroll, accounting, or related field preferred.
· Two years or more of experience working with payroll processing, accounting, or numerical data analysis and reporting.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Limited periods of standing, walking, reaching, stretching may be required.
· Frequent communication verbally and electronically.
· Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
Other Requirements:
· Must pass and maintain background clearance as defined by Oregon State Background Regulations.
