Payroll Director directs all aspects of payroll processing operations. Establishes and oversees payroll processes and procedures for routine processing, tax reporting and internal financial requirements. Being a Payroll Director designs short-term and long-term strategies to achieve continuous improvement and efficiencies in payroll processing and delivery operations. Keeps stakeholders informed about the status of payroll laws and regulations and develops implementation plans for required changes to operations. Additionally, Payroll Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Payroll Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Payroll Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.      KT is seeking a motivated individual to join our accounting services team.


    Responsibilities The Client Accounting Services Associate specializing in Client Payroll Services will provide timely, accurate, and ongoing assistance and service to designated clients, including, but not limited to:

    • Payroll Processing
      • Assisting clients with new, transitioning, and exiting employee pay compliance.
      • Working with clients to collect and verify timekeeping information for employees.
      • Calculating wages, overtime, bonuses, and other special payment.
      • Ensuring accurate deductions for taxes, benefits, and other withholdings.
      • Preparation of payroll checks, records, and reports.
      • Assisting with workers’ compensation and unemployment premium collection and reporting.
      • Advising client on relevant local, state, or federal compliance issues.
      • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any issues in a timely manner.
      • Preparing year end documents to include payroll registers, W2, and 1099 forms.
    • Staying up to date with relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Identify accounting practice errors, advise, and educate client’s staff of proper procedural accounting practices.
    • Develop working relationships with clients and co-workers including participating in the firm’s coaching and mentor programs.
    • Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis.
    • Attend firm-sponsored community service events and team-building activities.
    • Assist in staff recruiting efforts including attending career fairs, and interviews, and helping with in-person visits.
    • Develop proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, accounting software, and other applications relevant to job requirements.
    • Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality.
    • Become familiar with and adhere to Ketel Thorstenson’s policies and procedures.
    • Other duties as assigned by Partner-in-Charge or another member of the Partner group.

                            

     Work Environment and Physical Demands

    • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and fax machines.
    • The employee will sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk and work on a computer. The intern may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

    Schedule and Benefits

    • This is a full-time or part-time position working 20 to 40 hours per week; required hours during busy season may increase up to 56 hours per week

    • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a similar field such as Finance or Business. Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
