Recovery House is a regional leader, providing the highest quality of inpatient addiction treatment services for adults. We offer a series of structured programs that provide effective, compassionate treatment for individuals dealing with all forms of chemical dependency. These include addiction to alcohol, prescription drugs, heroin, cocaine and other drugs.
The HR/Development Specialist serves as a member of the administrative team, offering Human Resource services to Recovery House. This person will also help the CEO conceptualize and implement Recovery House’s Development and Marketing efforts.
The HR/Development Specialist reports to the CFO and CEO.
Main Purpose of the Job:
75%: To provide human resource services and support for Recovery House employees.
25%: To implement a broad suite of fundraising activities which include special fundraising events, spring and fall appeals, and others means for donations. The focus is on relationship building, marketing and communications.
Scope of Job:
The Human Resources Generalist supports all areas of HR, with a focus on learning and development, HR Information Systems (HRIS), performance management, and compliance. Supports all other areas of HR as assigned.
Duties and Essential Functions
Works with the CFO and CEO to achieve HR and development goals in a variety of areas, including but not limited to the below.
Learning and development:
- Collaborate with the leadership team to assess learning and development needs, and create customized training programs that align with company goals, state compliance, and employee career progression.
- Coordinate and/or facilitate training sessions and workshops, ensuring that content is engaging and effective. Conduct training evaluations to measure effectiveness of learning initiatives and continuously refine programs for maximum impact.
HRIS:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Generate HR reports and analytics as needed.
- Facilitate the completion and maintenance of yearly staff development plans.
Compliance:
- Stay up-to-date on Federal and State labor laws and regulations.
- Ensure that Recovery House is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
Workforce Development:
- Lead the recruitment process, including job posting, sourcing, interviewing, candidate selection and/or onboarding of new employees.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and conflicts.
- Contribute to employee engagement initiatives and programs.
- Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Development
- Coordinates communications and schedules meetings with donors and sponsors
- Overseeing all fundraising activities, direct mail appeals, renewals and corporate partnership initiatives
- Cultivates relationships with current supporters, Board and individual donors
- Prepares background reports on prospective donors
- Coordinates appeal and gift processing and assists with all development and marketing administrative functions
- Aids in the marketing of Recovery House via literature, social media, and other forms of advertising.
- Assume role in planning and executing all fundraising events, manage event logistical details, serving as the point of contact with supporters, sponsors, and attendees.
- Record and track event data and constituent information
- Process donations, generate and track tax-receipts and acknowledgement letters.
- Work with the CFO on monthly and year end reconciliation
Qualifications and Skills Level:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field, preferred.
- Proven experience in HR roles required (minimum of 2 years).
- Knowledge of developing and implementing training and development programs.
- Solid understanding of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Detail oriented, well organized, and able to maintain confidentiality with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Necessary computer skills for the position: Proficiency in Microsoft Office; including intermediate experience level Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in raising funds from diverse sources, including major gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year; commensurate with experience.
