PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position requires the Operator skills needed to assist our asphalt paving crews in various types of projects, including operating various pieces of equipment used in the hot mix asphalt paving and construction division including, but not limited to asphalt and dirt rollers and responsibilities can be extended based on experience and ability.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Operating roller compaction equipment needed in support of hot mix asphalt paving of roads, highways, and parking lots.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience in roadway or site construction and working around or with asphalt paving operations.
2. Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
3. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
4. Ability to perform all job duties in a safe and efficient manner.
5. Ability to perform work in daytime and nighttime conditions.
6. OSHA 10 certification will be required if hired.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and construction areas as outlined by OSHA and state agencies.  Protective equipment that is required for this position:  Hardhat, safety glasses, reinforced toed shoes, hand protection, safety vest/high visibility clothing for any work in the field, and hearing protection.

The employee is required to sit, walk, stand, climb, crawl, bend, kneel, reach above shoulders, and lift or move heavy things. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust to focus, and use or operate various pieces of equipment.

Frequently:                 Bend, kneel, squat, climb, stand, walk, sit, reach, repetitive motion, right, left

Occasionally:              Drive, fine motor

This position requires an employee to lift:

Continuous:                0 - 10 lbs.

Frequently:                 10 - 50 lbs.

Occasionally:              50 - 100 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee operates heavy mobile equipment, works outside in varied weather conditions that may be hot and humid, cold and icy, rainy and wet. The noise level in the work environment may be high.
