Paving, Surfacing, and Tamping Equipment Operator jobs in Alabama
Paving, Surfacing, and Tamping Equipment Operator operates a mechanical machine to lay gravel, stone, and cold-mix asphalt on road surfaces. May require a high school diploma or its equivalent and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Being a Paving, Surfacing, and Tamping Equipment Operator is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Essential Job Functions:- Operate various equipment such as: Skid Steer, Broom, Asphalt Roller, Screws, Paver, Milling Machine, Sweeper
- Understand all aspects of the paving industry including prep work, grade, drainage, paving patterns, mix types, etc.
- Direct trucks delivering asphalt to the paver and signal instructions
- Detect and correct defects in surfaces, seams, and edges
- Complete labor tasks such as raking or shoveling when necessary
- Maintain a high level of quality work at all times
- Maintain good relationships with Technicians, Foreman, Superintendents, Inspectors, Developers, and other co-workers at all times
- Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work tasks
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Represent and promote Grayson Carter and Son in a professional and honest manner
Job Qualifications/Requirements:- 2 year of paving experience preferred
- Ability to communicate and convey information effectively
- Must be physically able to stand, walk, sit, crouch, kneel, climb, and periodically lift 75 pounds
- Knowledge of OSHA Standards
- Ability to obtain Arsenal Badge required
- Ability to obtain FBI Badge preferred, but not required
- Dependable transportation
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on all job sites as required
- Work weekends and overtime as needed
- Committed to attending work each day
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
