Patient Transporter transports patients to and from their inpatient beds and other areas like therapy, surgery or radiology. Other responsibilities include retrieving medical records, lab results, supplies and medications. Being a Patient Transporter may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Patient Transporter typically reports to a supervisor. The Patient Transporter may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     Job Summary

    Transports patients, specimens, and equipment throughout the facility.
     
    Job Responsibilities
    • Transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to designated sites as requested, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors, and other equipment.
    • Provides continuous oxygen to patients by setting the oxygen tanks to the same level already being provided.
    • Assists patients with entering and exiting vehicles, including transfer from or to wheelchairs or stretchers.
    • Delivers equipment and specimens to requesting team members or department.
    • Assists team members with removal of deceased bodies from units and transport to morgue.
    • Greets and provides information and direction to patients and visitors.
    Qualifications
    • High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher preferred
    • A minimum of 2 years relevant experience preferred
    • BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
