Patient Safety Specialist assists in the development and implementation of patient safety programs. Gathers data detailing patient-related errors and conducts analysis for management detailing the cause of the error. Being a Patient Safety Specialist recommends changes, policies, or programs that could prevent future errors. Gives presentations and training programs meant to increase awareness of patient safety initiatives. Additionally, Patient Safety Specialist tests patient-safety knowledge of employees and recommends changes to training programs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Patient Safety Specialist contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Safety and Security is seeking a Security Supervisor. Their responsibility will be to provide leadership in the coordination and administration of the security staff within UI Health Care. This will be accomplished by planning, organizing, directing, supporting, and evaluating all security staff within UI Health Care. This position will directly supervise the Hospital Security Officer Merit Supervisors, Hospital Security Officers, Hospital Security Officer Trainee’s, and Security Clerks for their designated shift. This position will collaborate with dispatch, fire safety, nursing services, UIPD, and all other key stakeholders to enhance safety and security within UI Health Care. They will monitor existing reporting tools to evaluate staff performance, scheduling, security, and safety. This Supervisor will support the Manager to ensure their security staff maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff within the buildings and on the grounds of UI Health Care.
