Patient Representative acts as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare organization to support patient-centric care delivery. Communicates patients' questions, concerns, and issues to appropriate staff members, follows up, and facilitates solutions as needed. Being a Patient Representative explains policies, procedures, rights, and applicable regulations to patients and provides informational resources about available services. Working with multi-disciplinary teams may make recommendations for improvements to the patient experience. Additionally, Patient Representative may participate in discharge processes or administer patient satisfaction surveys. Follows all applicable regulations regarding patient information privacy policies. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Patient Representative works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.   • Position Title: Patient Financial Services Representative

    Position Summary: Responsible for the timely collection of patient accounts, setting up and monitoring payment plans, and working with an attorney when necessary on collection accounts.

    Supervision Received: Reports to CFO

    Essential Job Functions:

    · Assist patients and staff with patient billing questions and concerns.

    · Monitor and manage past due medical and dental accounts by sending letters and making calls, initiating follow-up correspondence, and managing collection accounts with THC’s attorney.

    · Establish and monitor payment plans.

    · Educate patients about THC’s sliding fee scale; determine eligibility and discount and assist in quarterly SFS audits.

    · Review encounter forms.

    · Post personal payments to medical accounts.

    · Prepare daily bank deposits.

    · Prepare, review and mail monthly statements.

    · Medicaid pharmacy billing.

    · Read mandatory internal communications distributed by email or hard copy.

    · Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

    · Computer knowledge

    · Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills

    · Excellent communication skills

    Working Environment:

    This position requires the ability to communicate in a supportive manner with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

    Pay: Competitive Pay Based on Experience

    The Health Center offers a robust benefits package for full-time employees:

    • You would accrue up to 80 hours of paid vacation, earning an additional day a year maxing out at 4 weeks
    • You would accrue 96 hours of sick leave annually
    • You pay an affordable pre-tax bi-weekly health insurance premium contribution

    • The Health Center pays 90% of your health insurance plan deductible
    • The Health Center pays 100% of the deductible if you have services onsite, woman’s health, or associates in pediatrics

    • Dental Benefit- $500 per year for employee, then 60% off discount up to $1,000. Spouse/Dependents- 60% off the first $1,000
