Director Patient Advocacy and Industry Relations

    Lead field-based patient advocacy liaison team to advance Acadia's business objectives. Responsible for day to day planning and execution of the advocacy and industry relations strategic plan. Identify trends and methods for strengthening relationships, partnerships and collaborations to better serve the patient and caregiver communities across Acadia's therapeutic portfolio.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Represents the company and acts as the national field director of our liaison team with patient advocacy groups and regional medical societies.
    • Provide strategic input to optimize patient outcomes in the patient and caregiver communities that we serve.
    • Effectively network with industry counterparts to understand best practices and apply learnings to future strategic plans.
    • Identifies and cultivates relationships with key stakeholders and organizations that are essential to achieving business objectives.
    • Contributes to the development of strategic plans for assigned regional patient advocacy and medical societies and oversees the successful implementation that is aligned with company business strategy.
    • Manage annual assigned budget , forecasting, and reporting for field-based patient advocacy and engagement activities.
    • Create and bring forward innovative approaches to partnering with advocacy groups that align with business strategy.
    • Champion the patient and medical professional voice to share insights about the patient journey and unmet needs of these groups.
    • Monitors competitive activity and identifies industry trends.
    • Interfaces effectively with medical affairs to ensure coordination with KOL, advisory and medical education field-based activities and clinical trial recruitment.
    • Close coordination with Government Affairs and Policy team on key matters impacting our patient communities.
    • Ensure cross functional collaboration and input with R&D, medical affairs, government affairs, commercial, market access, market development and other key stakeholders to optimally manage relationships to ensure alignment and effective execution of patient advocacy and medical society strategy.
    • Serves as a representative of the organization to both internal and external groups and ensures that information communicated is accurate and up to date regarding organizational activities and industry trends.
    • Stays current of new developments and incorporates such developments, ideas and strategies into the development and execution of programs.
    • Ensures adherence to company policies, compliance procedures, quality systems as well as other legal and regulatory directives.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Education/Experience/Skills:

    Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, healthcare, science or other related field. An equivalent combination of relevant education and applicable job experience may be considered. Requires 10 years of biopharmaceuticals experience in commercialization, marketing, advocacy or industry relations. Experience working in Rare Diseases, Neurology and/or Psychiatry marketplace as well as managing a team is preferred.

    Key SKills:

    • Understanding of Biopharmaceutical relationships with non-profit target accounts
    • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Highly detail oriented, self-disciplined, and ability to work independently with limited direction to resolve discrepancies and issues.
    • Demonstrated people management and motivation skillset.
    • Clear written and verbal communication skills to ensure understanding of specific scientific matters.
    • Experienced in public speaking and giving presentations to senior leaders.
    • Ability to travel by car, train or airplane independently overnight up to 75% of the time and work after hours if required by travel schedule or business issues.
    • Strong and positive work ethic for a growing team environment.

    Physical Requirements:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk or hear in a standard office environment. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

    In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is also eligible for discretionary bonus and equity awards based on factors such as individual and organizational performance. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance, and location.

    Salary Range
    $189,000-$236,500 USD
