Pathology Assistant under the supervision of a pathologist assists with preparing and dissecting surgical specimens. Prepares and selects tissue samples for analysis. Being a Pathology Assistant may record findings or sterilize equipment. Requires a bachelor's/master's degree from an accredited program. Additionally, Pathology Assistant may require certification as a pathologist assistant. Typically reports to a pathologist. To be a Pathology Assistant typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- License/Certifications: None required.
- Experience: None required. Previous Anatomic Pathology or Clinical Laboratory experience preferred.
