Pathology Assistant under the supervision of a pathologist assists with preparing and dissecting surgical specimens. Prepares and selects tissue samples for analysis. Being a Pathology Assistant may record findings or sterilize equipment. Requires a bachelor's/master's degree from an accredited program. Additionally, Pathology Assistant may require certification as a pathologist assistant. Typically reports to a pathologist. To be a Pathology Assistant typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Schedule: Monday-Friday 1130 pm-730 am

    Clinical Laboratory Assistant I is responsible for receiving, entering patient and specimen information into the computer system, labeling, and distributing specimens to all technical sections. UW send-outs are integrated into this process so this position will also be responsible for preparing and manifesting these send-outs. 

    You Will:

    • Receive, sort and document incoming samples.
    • Assess and accession laboratory specimens.
    • Data entry and scan requisition images.
    • Assist with send-outs.
    • Provide support services for other departments, clients, and pathologists.
    • Quality control data entry.
    • Adhere to HIPAA patient confidentiality standards.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Laboratory and medical terminology knowledge preferred.
    • Previous data entry experience preferred and detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
    • Ability to work productively, effectively, and independently in a fast-paced environment. 
    • Strong multi-tasking ability & ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
    • Ability to pass a standardized color-blind test - to be part of onboarding
