Pathology Assistant under the supervision of a pathologist assists with preparing and dissecting surgical specimens. Prepares and selects tissue samples for analysis. Being a Pathology Assistant may record findings or sterilize equipment. Requires a bachelor's/master's degree from an accredited program. Additionally, Pathology Assistant may require certification as a pathologist assistant. Typically reports to a pathologist. To be a Pathology Assistant typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. QUALIFICATIONS:
An SLPA must complete an approved course of academic study, field work under the supervision of an ASHA-certified and/or licensed SLP, and on-the-job training specific to SLPA responsibilities and workplace behaviors.
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education and Speech Language Pathologist
SUPERVISES: N/A
JOB OVERVIEW: The SLPA will assist the Speech Language Pathologists in caring for the needs of students on an IEP for speech services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 184 day contract
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position will require travel to multiple campuses and will be mostly in a classroom lab type setting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Hear, speak , and interpret. Walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Sitting for long periods of time. Lift and move objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Read, write, and interpret written documents. Manipulate, handle, feel, and control items or equipment.
EVALUATION: In accordance with Board Policy and appropriate procedural regulations. The Director of Special Services will be responsible for completing the evaluation.
SALARY: In accordance with Board Policy and placement on the support salary schedule.
