Pathology Assistant under the supervision of a pathologist assists with preparing and dissecting surgical specimens. Prepares and selects tissue samples for analysis. Being a Pathology Assistant may record findings or sterilize equipment. Requires a bachelor's/master's degree from an accredited program. Additionally, Pathology Assistant may require certification as a pathologist assistant. Typically reports to a pathologist. To be a Pathology Assistant typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. If you are hired for this position, you will receive $200 upon successful performance and consistent employment in June at the completion of the school year if referred by a Grand Forks Public School current employee. Terms of Employment: Nine (9) months, academic school year
Hours: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Monday through Friday, when school is in session

Education: Graduate of a Speech-Language Paraprofessional program with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree. Must have a Certificate of Completion in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction, Office of Special Education.
Qualifications: Experience in a school setting preferred. Basic academic and computer skills, ability to work well with students, excellent human relations and communications skills.
Job Goal: The job of a Speech-Language Pathology Paraprofessional (SLPP) is to provide speech-language therapy services to students identified with a variety of needs and disabilities according to each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) under the direction of a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk and stand. Lift sixty (60) lbs. occasionally, with the ability to reach, stand, walk, carry, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, and/or crawl. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely. Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated by the Supervising Teacher, Building Administrator.
