  • RemX by Employbridge has partnered with their law firm client with their search for a Biotechnology Patent Agent. This is a hybrid position located in Washington, DC.

    The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in biotechnology and a thorough understanding of patent law. The primary responsibility will be to assist in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting prior art searches, and providing technical expertise in patent matters related to biotechnology. The Biotechnology Patent Agent will work closely with inventors, attorneys, and other stakeholders to secure intellectual property rights for innovative biotechnological inventions.

    Additional responsibilities include:

    • Collaborate with inventors and attorneys to draft patent applications related to biotechnological inventions.
    • Conduct thorough prior art searches to assess the patentability of inventions and provide strategic guidance.
    • Analyze technical documents, research papers, and patent references to support patent prosecution activities.
    • Assist in preparing responses to office actions from patent offices worldwide.
    • Provide technical expertise and guidance on patent-related matters, including patent portfolio management and freedom-to-operate analyses.
    • Participate in patent strategy meetings and contribute to the development of intellectual property strategies.
    • Stay updated on developments in biotechnology, patent law, and regulatory requirements relevant to patent prosecution.
    • Communicate effectively with inventors, attorneys, and external stakeholders to facilitate the patent application process and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
    • Support other patent-related activities as needed, such as patent landscape analyses, due diligence reviews, and patentability assessments.

    Requirements:

    • The ideal candidate will possess an advanced degree in biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, organic chemistry, pharmacology, or a related field.
    • Candidates must have five years of chemical or biotech prosecution, PTAB post-grant proceedings, and/or opinion experience.
    • Must be registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office.
    • Top academic credentials, strong analytical abilities, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work well on a team are required
