Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare develops programs and provides services designed to meet the religious and spiritual needs of patients, their families, and healthcare staff.   • What Will You Do?
    As the Manager of Pastoral Services at Pine Rest, you’ll be part of tight-knit team that believes in the healing power of your expertise and compassion. The Manager of Pastoral Services will assist the Director of Pastoral Services & CPE in overseeing the day-to-day functioning of pastoral services to patients and residents of all ages and staff members. The Manager will assist the Director in leading and developing excellent spiritual care for patients and staff members and other spiritual aspects of Pine Rest’s mission. The Manager will support the Chaplains, Chaplain Residents, and CPE Interns in providing excellent pastoral care for patients, residents, and staff members. The Manager will work as a key member of multidisciplinary and administrative teams as part of the overall holistic care provided by Hospital and Residential Services. The Manager will coordinate the Pastoral Services and CPE department schedule and ensure provision of pastoral services appropriate for the institution’s needs. The Manager will seek to develop close links with members of the Pine Rest community and staff members and be able to relate to a wide range of ages, faiths, backgrounds, and ethnicities.     Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    • To provide leadership and support to the chaplaincy team and other staff / volunteers in the provision of excellent spiritual care for patients and families.
    • To coordinate and schedule adequate chaplain coverage for Hospital and Residential Services.
    • To advise, train and support staff throughout the organization and beyond, in identifying the spiritual needs of patients, residents, and their families.
    • To support staff throughout the organization in meeting spiritual needs of patients, residents, their families.
    • To lead or participate in services for patients, families, staff and volunteers as required.
    • To participate in meetings of the various multi-disciplinary and administrative teams to ensure spiritual needs are identified and addressed.
    • To participate in interviewing, hiring, orienting, and teaching.
    • To lead in the development of Chaplaincy Team projects that provide spiritual care for the overall organization.
    • To coordinate research projects undertaken by the Pastoral Services department.
    • To coordinate and participate in the out of hours on-call arrangements for the Chaplaincy Team.
    • To build and maintain good relationships with clergy, ministers and other faith leaders within Pine Rest and in the local community.
    • Support staff of all faiths or none.
    • To provide line management support for members of the Chaplaincy Team.
    • Maintain confidentiality with regards to residents, patients, employees, and others.



    What Does This Role Require?
    Education/Experience:
    •Knowledge of theology, spiritual development, and pastoral counseling at a level normally acquired through completion of a Master’s of Divinity degree or equivalent training at an accredited theolog¬ical seminary or school.
    •Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education training.
    •Endorsement as a Chaplain by one’s denomination of faith group.
    •Minimum of five years of experience in related work experience, Chaplaincy preferred.
    •Must be board certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, Association of Jewish Chaplains, Association of Mental Health Clergy, or a cognate group of these organizations.
    •May be an ACPE Certified Educator or Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counseling.
    •Previous management experience preferred.
