Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare develops programs and oversees services designed to meet the religious and spiritual needs of patients, their families, and healthcare staff. Ensures that pastoral services are staffed so that chaplains are available to support patients and families facing difficult medical choices. Being a Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare establishes policies and procedures to facilitate optimal service delivery and ensure that emotional support, spiritual counsel, and comfort are provided. Evaluates and reviews records of counseling sessions and visitation logs to ensure compliance with professional and ethical standards. Additionally, Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare plans and coordinates with other clergy to conduct interfaith worship experiences. May perform the duties of a chaplain. Requires a master's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Job Description

    The Chaplain-PASTORAL CRE reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

    Visits and assesses spiritual needs of patients.  Provides spiritual and emotional support to patients, families and personnel at times of crisis and in difficult situations.  Provides opportunities for the reception of Sacraments, Eucharist and for the emergency administration of the Sacrament of Baptism.  

    This position is casual (non-benefited).

    Qualifications

    Graduate of an accredited college or university preferred. Must be a compassionate individual with empathy for patients, family and staff as well as a good listener and be able to handle/deal effectively with people in an emergency situation.  Experience in spiritual care in a health care setting is also preferred.  Must be committed to working as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
