Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare develops programs and oversees services designed to meet the religious and spiritual needs of patients, their families, and healthcare staff. Ensures that pastoral services are staffed so that chaplains are available to support patients and families facing difficult medical choices. Being a Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare establishes policies and procedures to facilitate optimal service delivery and ensure that emotional support, spiritual counsel, and comfort are provided. Evaluates and reviews records of counseling sessions and visitation logs to ensure compliance with professional and ethical standards. Additionally, Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare plans and coordinates with other clergy to conduct interfaith worship experiences. May perform the duties of a chaplain. Requires a master's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. PASTORAL CARE ASSISTANT - Part-time

    1. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      1. Assist in the total program of all religious activities and opportunities offered by the agency as well as those offered in cooperation with various churches and/or other church agencies. 
      2. Conduct ISP (Individualized Spiritual Plan) interviews with new residents within 30 days of arrival on campus. Review and input the information, sharing pastoral concerns regarding individual youth with the director.  Collect statistical information from the comparison of intake interview with discharge interview.
      3. Assist in providing worship services that are sensitive to the varied religious backgrounds of all residents and staff. This may include, but is not limited to, assisting in the creation and running of Powerpoint/Easy Worship media, gathering materials, setting up for worship and closing down afterwards, delivering an appropriate sermon or devotional that is consistent with United Methodist Doctrine.       4. Assist in maintaining good relationships with pastors, congregations and personnel. Present a positive understanding of the mission of the agency when speaking to outside groups.
      5. Assist or lead in providing special programs and activities to increase youth and staff spiritual knowledge. Specifically, these would include small group gatherings, and campus-wide programs and activities like holiday celebrations either at the home or in the Sulphur community.
      6. Implementation of programming and curriculum as deemed appropriate by the Director of Pastoral Care.
      7. To assume other responsibilities as requested.

       

      QUALIFICATIONS

      This person is one who is knowledgeable about the Bible and theology.  Regardless of personal theological background is able and committed to articulate the Wesleyan theology of grace in the work setting.  High integrity, reliability and kindness are readily discerned in daily interactions with this person. 

      The ideal candidate would also have an understanding of the role and confidentiality of pastoral counseling in the overall treatment goals of the facility.  Familiarity with the effects of trauma on development is a plus.

      6. Must be a detail-oriented person, with abilities to prioritize and think through projects to completion.
      7. Must present one’s self in a professional manner and maintain mature relationships with those in positions of authority, other staff, and with children.

       

      EMPLOYMENT  PROVISION TIME

      Time on Duty:              12-20 hours per week

      Salary:                         As provided for in Annual Budget

      FLSA Exemption:        Non-exempt
