Overview:
The Executive Pastor manages the day-to-day office operation and supports the senior pastor in making decisions, determining the overall church direction, and offering spiritual and pastoral care for FABC. The Executive Pastor is the second-in-command under the Senior Pastor. This position functions to fulfill the vision and mission of FABC ensuring efficient human resources, finance, church operations, and ministry oversight to achieve alignment and accomplishment of the church's mission and vision.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all office equipment is maintained, repaired, or replaced expeditiously to avoid church disruption.
- Ensures a records retention policy and process is in place to maintain business and financial records in compliance with sound business practices, regulatory and governmental agencies, and historical documents to perpetuate the Church's legacy.
- Interacts with parishioners and answers questions from the congregation, staff, and guests regarding church activities, policies, and procedures.
- Supervises office volunteers, security, and other office personnel as assigned.
- Develops and maintains a system to track attendance and participation in ministry activities and provide reports to the Senior Pastor and ministry leaders for use in evaluating effectiveness and resource allocation.
- Ensures all church facilities, grounds, property, equipment, and vehicles are maintained and in good working condition.
- Ensures all licenses, maintenance agreements, and governmental regulations are current and compliant.
- Works with Senior Pastor and various committees to determine proposed repair or renovation projects and equipment purchases.
- Authorized to spend up to $2,000 for facility improvements and grounds maintenance without the approval of the respective Trustee committee chair.
- Responsible for compiling and presenting proposals for projects exceeding $2,000 to the Trustee ministry.
-Secures service providers, conducting due diligence to include references and, if necessary, background checks on new vendors and service providers.
- Prepares annual facilities budget.
- Develops and maintains a listing of preferred service providers.
- Establishes and maintains the physical inventory of church equipment.
- Monitors the church and church property energy use to ensure optimal efficiency and works with church leadership to make proposed changes.
- Oversee safety, security, and risk management, including periodic assessments (quarterly), and make recommendations as deemed necessary.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Pastor or in a similar role is preferred
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others
- Excellent public speaking and communication skills
- Proficient in event planning and organization
- Knowledge of hospice care principles is a plus
- Ability to write sermons, articles, and other written materials.
- May require flexibility.
