Connections/Visitation Pastor

  • Job Description

    Primary function

    The Connections/Visitation Pastor will be a highly motived leader who enjoys connecting with people and helping them to take the next steps at South Lebanon Community Church (“SLCC” or the “Church”). This involves helping first time guests to move towards full participation at SLCC. It also involves helping attenders of SLCC to move towards being more connected to God, the Church, and using their giftedness to serve in the Church. He will also be responsible for the visitation ministry of the church.

    Terms: Full Time

    The Connections/Visitation Pastor will meet with the Executive Pastor to review performance at 90 days and at (6) months from the commencement of service. Thereafter, the Executive Pastor will conduct annual performance reviews at or near the anniversary date of the commencement of employment, with assistance from the Leadership Team as necessary. During this annual review, the Executive Pastor will review the responsibilities of the role, performance over the past year, and the establishment and measuring of goals and objectives. The annual review shall also include a review of, and possible adjustments to, the compensation package for this position as approved by the Leadership Team.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide direction and oversight to the Deacon Ministry of the church
    • Be responsible to establish and implement an effective visitation program for members and attenders who are in the hospital, nursing homes, shut-ins and in continuing care facilities, as well as in personal homes.
    • Provide direction and oversight for guest follow-up which includes reaching out to guests to help them get better acquainted with and connected to SLCC by providing direction and/or answering any questions
    • Provide direction and oversight for a next steps team that will encourage attenders to move towards church membership, understanding and utilizing their spiritual giftedness for the good of the SLCC body.
    • Create a clear connection process to ensure individuals have opportunities to connect to discipleship opportunities, including Sunday School , Life Groups, and other small groups to grow in their faith.
    • Help to develop onboarding processes for the ministries of SLCC which will include volunteer recruitment and placement.
    • Develop and implement strategies for member retention, satisfaction, and involvement in church ministries and activities.
    • Must have the flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by church events and services and the job responsibilities.
    • Attend all staff meetings

    Qualifications/Skills

    The candidate must have and do the following:

    · A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ.

    · A passion for God and be in a growing personal relationship with Him and have a desire to continue to develop that relationship.

    · Apply Biblical principles in everyday life, serving as an example of godly character and living.

    • A bachelor’s degree in a Biblical Ministries program preferred
    • 2-5 years of relevant ministry experience
    • Strong administrative, organizational and time management skills, and ability to prioritize competing tasks and responsibilities.
    • Be a self-starter who is able to work independently
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strongly gifted in the area of leading and shepherding teams of people
    • Ability to train future leaders
    • Is able to delegate ministry tasks and assignments

    · Affirm and uphold the South Lebanon Community Church Affirmation of Faith and Practice.

    · Possess the ability to communicate, support and fulfill SLCC’s mission, vision, core values, purposes and goals

    · Communicate and work well with the staff of SLCC for the good of the Body of Christ.

    · Must complete all clearances related to the SLCC Child Protection Policy (includes child abuse clearance, criminal background clearance and FBI fingerprinting clearance) prior to serving in this position

    Reporting Structure and Accountability

    • The Connections/Visitation Pastor will be accountable to the Executive Pastor.

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Annual Starting Salary: $27,000/year
    • Salary increases for the Connections/Visitation Pastor will be determined by the Leadership Team with input from the Executive Pastor. The annual salary of the Connections/Visitation Pastor will be included in the annual SLCC church budget that is approved at a Congregational Business Meeting.
    • Housing Allowance: $25,000/year
    • This is contingent upon being ordained by the Leadership Team of SLCC.
    • Mileage: Will be reimbursed at the current IRS rate of 67 cents per mile for visitation.
    • Pension: $3,000/year-
    • Changes and/or increases in this will be at the discretion of the SLCC Leadership Team in conversation with the Connections/Visitation Pastor.
    • Health Insurance: Coverage in a Health Reimbursement plan through Highmark Blueshield for the Connections/Visitation Pastor and dependents.
    • No employee contribution will be required for coverage in 2024.
    • Vacation: 2 weeks for the first year
    • Vacation time may be increased in the future based upon years of service.
    • Ongoing professional growth/continuing education: $1,500/year reimbursable
    • The Connections/Visitation Pastor is encouraged to pursue opportunities for continued learning and development in alignment with established performance goals.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $52,000.00 per year
