Parts Supervisor identifies, inspects, coordinates, and processes parts to be exchanged. Dispatches material and parts in accordance with production schedules and commitments. Being a Parts Supervisor monitors all backorders and communicates and provides technical assistance to parts sales, customers, and branches. Updates and monitors the parts inventory database and places orders as needed. Additionally, Parts Supervisor generates progress reports on schedule status, parts usage, and inventory and keeps records of completed orders. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Parts Supervisor independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors. Responsibilities:
- Manage the procurement and inventory of parts for the dealership's automotive repair and service department
- Develop and implement effective demand planning strategies to ensure optimal stock levels
- Collaborate with vendors and negotiate pricing and terms for parts purchases
- Maintain accurate records of parts inventory using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Monitor and analyze parts usage and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements
- Coordinate with the service department to ensure timely availability of parts for repairs and maintenance
- Train and supervise parts staff to ensure proper handling, storage, and organization of inventory
- Develop and maintain relationships with OEM suppliers to stay up-to-date on new products and promotions
Experience:
- Previous experience in parts management within an automotive dealership or repair facility
- Strong knowledge of automotive parts, including their functions, compatibility, and pricing
- Familiarity with CMMS or other inventory management systems
- Proven ability to negotiate with vendors and secure favorable pricing and terms
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Strong analytical skills to monitor inventory levels, track usage, and identify trends
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to meet department goals
