Job Description:

The Pantry for Adair County (PAC or pantry) is seeking a director who will embrace the mission of the pantry to provide supplemental food to the food insecure of Adair County. As Director you will be responsible for the overall management of the pantry including receipt, storage, and distribution of food to those in need; recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to ensure client needs are met; and adopting our core values to serve those in need with kindness and compassion. We are seeking a director who will enhance our organizational strengths and take the Pantry for Adair County to new levels of excellence and community impact. Additionally, as director you will provide strategic direction and leadership for fundraising by incorporating social media, implementing a comprehensive giving platform and personal outreach into the community. Flexible and variable hours of work are expected with set hours for distribution, preparation for distribution, food deliveries and board meetings.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of operations, consistent with our mission, values, and expectations.
• Using all available resources, maintain appropriate inventory.
• Supervise food distributions, donations, and deliveries.
• Ensure an efficient flow of service of food distribution.
• Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the Pantry.
• Ensure food is sorted and stored in a safe and sanitary manner.
• Ensure safety and security procedures are followed.
• Recruit, train, and support food pantry volunteers.
• Coordinate schedules and assist in logging volunteer hours.
• Initiate appreciation events for food pantry volunteers.
• Attend monthly Board of Directors meetings.
• Keep accurate food pantry records which must meet Food Bank* requirements.
• Report on maintenance of facilities and equipment to the Board of Directors.
• Respond to requests for information regarding the food pantry in a timely manner.
• Assist in coordinating food and fundraising drives with local community partners including churches, schools, communities, and other organizations.
• Other duties assigned on an “as needed” basis.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED, however, a degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
• At least two years’, with preference of four years’, experience as a manager or supervisor or nonprofit management.
• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record required.
• Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, social media and with a preference of working knowledge of giving platforms and website management.
• Strong organization and time management skills required.
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to effectively interact and communicate with board members, volunteers, and the community (pantry clients, donors, etc.).
• Ability to use all equipment in the pantry including computers, etc.
• Requires walking, standing, and lifting up to 50lbs.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule.
