Are you looking for a position to give back to the community and serve those in need? The Urbandale Food Pantry has the perfect opportunity for you. The Urbandale Food Pantry, located in Urbandale, Iowa, is seeking a Pantry Associate to support operations at our non-profit food pantry.

This person will help with pantry order pick up, delivery, and other pantry operations. Ability to lift 50-80 lbs continually, driving, loading, and unloading of our box truck, plus availability Mon/Wed/Fri and some weekends is necessary; averages around 10-15 hours a week. Other hours are flexible as assigned by the Operations Manager. This position works closely with our Operations Manager, Executive Director staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities

- Pick up and unload weekly orders from locations such as DMARC and Costco for pantry inventory.

-Coordinate with Pantry Operations to utilize volunteers as needed for unloading and shelving of weekly orders, food rescue, and other donations.
- Safely operate and drive box truck

-Work with the Pantry Operations to organize food rescue and other partner agencies for the driving to and picking up food.

-Communicate vehicle maintenance/needs to Operation Manager /Executive Director.
- Load and unload goods and materials from the vehicle
- Follow delivery schedules and routes to ensure timely deliveries
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and pickups

Experience
- Previous experience as a Driver or in a similar role preferred

- Ability to safely operate a box truck, pallet jack, and liftgate.
- Experience in nonprofit setting is preferred, but not required
- Ability to lift heavy items and load/unload cargo
- Excellent communication skills
