Packaging Manager manages and oversees the packaging staff on designated shift to achieve operational objectives. Observes, analyzes, and researches packaging line operation to develop and implement scientific and efficient process. Being a Packaging Manager implements quality control check to ensure the packaging meets environment, health, and safety regulations. Provides staff with directions on materials and equipment for each package. Additionally, Packaging Manager may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Packaging Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. 1st Shift Hours: Tuesday-Friday 4:00am - 2:30pm
2nd Shift Hours: Monday-Thursday 2:30pm-1:00am
Location: Luzianne Tea Manufacturing Plant at 5601 Chef Menteur HighwayJob Summary: This position is responsible for safely troubleshooting, repairing and installing equipment within the manufacturing facility and ensuring that quality products are produced timely and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates knowledge and proper use of hand tools
- Troubleshoots and safely repairs basic mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and components
- Effectively prioritizes equipment issues in order of importance, manage downtime, and communicates issues to peers and leadership; escalates issues to experts or external resources as needed
- Utilizes Digital Production System (Redzone) to track assigned actions, updates peers, and communicates with departments
- Reads and interprets equipment drawings and OEM Manuals for packaging equipment
- Reads and follows instructions regarding daily expectations, requirements, or specifications
- Accurately completes all work order and quality paperwork
- Enforces Reily Foods Engineering & Purchasing Standards
- Reports environmental, health, and safety concerns to leadership
- Must be flexible with weekly work schedule to troubleshoot and fix issues as they arise in a timely manner to allow production to meet business demands
- Maintains a clean and sanitary workstation and maintenance shop
- Follows all safety procedures and participates in safety training; maintains safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person; reports any injury or accident immediately to supervisory and/or any unsafe condition
- Supports and complies with GMP’s; understands and follows emergency action plan
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Technical certification preferred
- 3 years of manufacturing facility maintenance experience
- Basic technical skills include Mechanical, Troubleshooting, Pneumatics, Fluid Power, Hand Tools
- Strong problem solving and analysis skills
- Self-directed team player with ability to communicate effectively and complete projects in a timely manner
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule inclusive of rotating between 1st and 2nd shift as needed
- Strong safety awareness
- Positive attitude with ability to follow rules and directions
