Packaging Machine Operator sets up and operates a packaging machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Fills, secures, and labels containers according to company and/or customer specifications. Being a Packaging Machine Operator verifies goods packaged against package invoices. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery. Additionally, Packaging Machine Operator adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion. Documents inventory number and weight, and organizes packages. May make minor repairs to packaging equipment as needed. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Packaging Machine Operator works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Overview:
Responsible for the safe operation of forming machines and related equipment involved in the production of plastic formed parts, ensuring the quality in finished product being delivered to our customers.
Responsibilities:
· Sets up, operates, breaks down and cleans equipment to be used in manufacturing activities in accordance with SOPs and equipment specifications.
· Achieve operating goals of work cell/area in all aspects of the manufacturing process, such as safety, quality throughput and cost.
· Read and comprehend written and numeric information, product specification, gauges, etc., and understand total concept as it affects immediate and future outcomes.
· Adhere to all safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
· Performs in-process inspection and testing of material to ensure it meets criteria, elevating to management and documenting/reporting defects into the production records. May requires measuring and simple mathematical calculations to ensure product meets specification requirements.
· Completes all associated paperwork & ERP tasks, coordinating with Line Leads to maintain quality requirements.
· Provides mechanical troubleshooting across the manufacturing floor such as tooling alignment, Teflon changes, and repairs on equipment as needed.
· Complies with all company policies and procedures including Personal Protective Equipment requirements, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Quality System Regulations, and Good Manufacturing Practices,
· Perform other duties as required.
· Must be willing to train in Ireland for 8 to 12 weeks. Length of training to be determined on individual basis and will vary based on prior experience and mechanical aptitude.
· Must be willing to work in a Clean Room Environment wearing appropriate required gowning and/or company provided garments.
· Prior experience with sealing equipment, bag converting equipment, or other complex machinery helpful.
· Prior experience with SAP is a plus.
