As we continue to expand, we are seeking a skilled Packaging Engineer to oversee the lifecycle of our packaging designs and ensure our standards are not just met but exceeded.

Role Summary

The Packaging Engineer will be a new and instrumental position within the Technical Product Development team, managing the transition of packaging designs from our creative team to final stages with our overseas and domestic factories, and final coordination with our BIG Warehouse Operations teams. This role will play a critical part in the conversion of design files, ensuring they are accurately rendered and functional for production. Having this expertise will help our team stress test prototypes, assess functionality, and ensure our packaging is both functional and innovative. This role will report directly to the Senior Director of Product Development, under the Operations department in a hybrid working environment.

Requirements

•   Coordinate and manage assigned responsibilities in New Product Launch projects & coordinate with respective NPD leaders
• Oversee the routing of packaging designs from creative departments to overseas suppliers, ensuring seamless transition and accurate file conversion
• Conduct thorough testing of package functionality and stress test prototypes to ensure quality adherence, durability and effectiveness
• Have a Value Engineering spirit and continuous improvement focus by reviewing and optimizing inbound and outbound shipping costs for all packaging designs, ensuring we are in line with cost expectations
• Ensure all packaging is accurate and complies with global regulatory standards
• Manage rebranding initiatives, ensuring consistency and alignment with our brand values, especially focusing on sustainability & ESG initiatives
• Facilitate effective communication with our warehouse teams for optimal storage and space planning
• Identify and implement cost-saving measures in packaging design without compromising quality, lead time, or design
• Validate the protection provided by packaging to ensure product integrity during shipping and handling
• Establish and maintain packaging standards across all brands to ensure consistent and high-quality consumer experience
• Manage BIG & project KPIS driving Quality, On Time Performance, and Cost behaviors

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field
• Preferred in-person role in a hybrid work environment
• Proven experience in packaging design and/or engineering, preferably in a role that involved coordination/translation with overseas suppliers
• Strong understanding of materials, packaging technologies, and industry best practices
• Demonstrated ability in managing multiple projects simultaneously and working with cross-functionals teams
• Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills
• Able to take initiative in managing assigned projects while maintaining consistent updates to Tech NPD teams
