Package Design Manager leads the planning, design, and creation of packaging artwork for an organization. Utilizes graphic arts design techniques and tools to create compelling package designs that reflect the organization's branding and marketing objectives. Being a Package Design Manager incorporates industry practices and any regulatory requirements into package designs. Ensures that design and branding standards are utilized consistently for all packaging. Additionally, Package Design Manager collaborates with production, marketing, vendors, and other stakeholders to deliver designs that meet all requirements and adhere to the budget. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in industrial design, art, graphic design or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Package Design Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Package Design Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. This company has been operating for over 50 years and is recognized as the world’s leading synthetic diamond and super-materials producer.     Primary Function:
    The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Manager, as part of a team tasked to operate a CVD diamond facility in Portland, Oregon. They will play a lead role in developing and maintaining site equipment, systems and procedures in addition to ensuring the highest levels of Overall Equipment Effectiveness for the facility with a continual-improvement mindset. They will be responsible for the hiring, training, and development of a team of Maintenance Technicians. They will also be a key contributor to the overall leadership of the site.

    Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
    • Be a key member of the site leadership team and ensure that the maintenance team’s KPI’s are fully aligned with site goals.
    • Manage a team of Maintenance Technicians tasked with seeking improvement opportunities in line with best practices and driving continuous improvement across the function.
    • Manage the hiring, training and development of Maintenance Technicians and ensure ongoing process compliance.
    • Develop an in-depth technical understanding of CVD diamond-synthesis reactors and other site equipment, and create SOP’s for preventative maintenance as-needed.
    • Ensure that SOP’s are frequently reviewed and modified to maximize efficiencies.
    • Proactively assist with the development and implementation of factory and site acceptance procedures.
    Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)
    • Preference for a 4-year degree in a technical discipline but may substitute experience in lieu of a degree
    • Demonstrated experience of successfully managing a team.
    • Adaptability.  Ability to work in a fast-moving environment and make decisions under pressure. Comfortable leading change.
    • Customer Centric.  Provides clarity and responsiveness to customers and partners (internal and external). Understands the customers underlying needs and problems. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
