PACS Administrator is responsible for the daily operations of the Picture Archiving and Communications Systems. Oversees equipment maintenance and systems testing, upgrading, and installing. Being a PACS Administrator acts as a liaison between the Radiology department and customers. Maintains positive vendor relationship. Additionally, PACS Administrator requires a bachelor's degree. Requires a certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The PACS Administrator supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a PACS Administrator typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.     The PACS Administrator's role is to perform all related activities for supporting the organization's Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS).

    Required qualifications:

    • 3 years' Experience in PACS, diagnostic workstation station technology or information technology

    • Experience setting up and customizing local workstations.

    • Experience working on and updating 3D workstations (Siemens and GE).

    • Excellent technical knowledge of image capture and archiving technologies.

    • Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience with radiology applications.

    • Previous exposure working in a large PACS environment.

    • Good knowledge of current network protocols, data transfer systems, including TCP/IP, DICOM, HL7, etc.PACS equipment support.

    • Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and healthcare guidelines.

    • Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.

    • Strong knowledge of applicable document retention (ISO 9001) and copyright laws.

    • Familiarity with project management techniques and procedures.

    • High understanding of confidentiality and data privacy laws, as well as federal legislations such as HIPAA.

    • Understanding of organizations goals and objectives.

    • Must have a customer service mindset.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Associate Degree Computer Science or Radiologic Technology Or equivalent educ/experience
