PACS Administrator is responsible for the daily operations of the Picture Archiving and Communications Systems. Oversees equipment maintenance and systems testing, upgrading, and installing. Being a PACS Administrator acts as a liaison between the Radiology department and customers. Maintains positive vendor relationship. Additionally, PACS Administrator requires a bachelor's degree. Requires a certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The PACS Administrator supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Summary of Position:
As the Cardiovascular Information System (CVIS) and Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) Administrator for Saratoga Hospital, this position will maintain and improve patient care and safety, as well as physician relations through administration of the CVIS / PACS, clinical applications, modalities, workflows, and emerging technologies. Acts as liaison between personnel and IT vendors providing oversight and direction for CVIS & Medical Imaging PACS and clinical staff knowledge. Oversee operations as it pertains to PACS of both the cardiology and medical imaging departments. This will include clinical workflow, inventory control, department billing, clinical data aggregations relating to organizational PACS, CVIS and clinical applications.
Interacts with system vendors and organizational PACS users to resolve problems and communicates activities. Provides leadership with support technology within Cardiology and Medical Imaging.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications: BS in Information Systems or Computer Science and a minimum of three years’ experience with CVIS and / or Picture Archiving Technology networking, programming and microcomputer support required; or an Associate’s degree in Information Systems and 5 years of experience in networking, programming and microcomputer support required. Experience in health care based information systems and Medical Imaging information systems preferred.
