Orthopedic Technician applies and adjusts plaster casts and assembles and attaches orthopedic traction equipment and devices as directed by a physician. Sets up bed traction units or rigs special devices as required, and inspects and adjusts bandages and equipment. Being an Orthopedic Technician requires a high school diploma or its equivalent, completion of Orthopedic Technician training and certification program. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. In this position the Orthopedic Technician will work with our busy Orthopedic team. In this position the Orthopedic Technician will perform splinting, casting, cast removal, dressing changes and suture and staple removal. The Orthopedic Technician will also room patients and assist with procedures. In addition, this person will clean exam rooms, order supplies, schedule surgeries and refill medications per protocol.
