Orthopedic Technician applies and adjusts plaster casts and assembles and attaches orthopedic traction equipment and devices as directed by a physician. Sets up bed traction units or rigs special devices as required, and inspects and adjusts bandages and equipment. Being an Orthopedic Technician requires a high school diploma or its equivalent, completion of Orthopedic Technician training and certification program. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.   • Job Summary:
    The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) position is responsible for the coordination of physician contact in the office setting or by telephone. They provide care and treatment of musculoskeletal problems under the direction or order of the orthopedic surgeon. CMAs are responsible to be available to cover office hours Monday thru Friday 7:00 am. Thru 5:30 pm and rotating Saturdays 9:00 am-12:00 pm or as indicated by position requirements or as physician schedule dictates.

    Duties/Responsibilities:
    1. Assist in maintaining patient flow in office; escorts patients to exam rooms and prepares for the exam, including obtaining vital signs and completing all necessary paperwork.
    2. Apply casts, splints, or braces under the direction of the physician.
    3. Answer medical questions from patients and assists with patient education.
    4. Assist with maintaining the medical area. Ensure that all designated supplies are kept current.
    5. Must possess flexibility with doctors’ schedules to ensure coverage at all locations.
    6. Record all patient information in EHR according to the Lancaster Orthopedic Group (LOG) system. Document all phone conversations appropriately in patient’s charts.
    7. Work collaboratively with co-workers. Works with co-workers and supervisor in a positive, professional manner.

    Supervisory Requirements:
    The person in this role has no supervisory responsibilities. They are expected to work as a team and provide assistance to co-workers as needed.

    Education and Experience:
    High school diploma or equivalent
    6 months related experience in a medical office is preferred
    Certified Medical Assistant Certification is required
    PC experience is required
