    DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

    UCOP Human Resources is dedicated to serving and supporting staff, and to building a work environment where employees feel involved and empowered to offer their best. Our HR Business Partners are assigned by department and provide guidance regarding all local HR services. Other staff units cover benefits, disability and leave, talent acquisition and employment, learning and development, and compensation.

    Position Summary
    The Organizational Development Consultant plays a key role in ensuring the development and advancement of an empowered, inclusive, values-driven workplace culture, and independently uses skills as an experienced organizational development and effectiveness professional with a full understanding of organizational consulting practices to resolve a wide variety of organizational consulting issues and situations. The consultant reinforces strategy and initiatives that enable all employees to engage and align to the UCOP mission, vision, and strategy. In this role the consultant is responsible for supporting organizational processes including succession planning, workforce planning, retention and culture building activities that are designed to encourage our employee value proposition; using continuous learning strategies, coaching and communications; reviewing data and analytics; and developing and recommending action and change management plans with leaders. The consultant normally receives little instruction on planning, researching, and resolving organizational effectiveness issues, with general instructions and guidance provided on new assignments and / or more unique situations.

    Key Responsibilities
    • 20% Provides consulting support on talent development and succession planning initiatives, including changes in organizational structure, work processes; providing change management strategies and tactics to enhance effective implementation.
    • 20% Leads and/or collaborates with Human Resource partners to design, develop, and implement workforce planning initiatives with focus on employee retention.
    • 15% Collaborates with UCOP Learning & Development to lead and facilitate meetings, focus groups, and other working sessions to help solve difficult problems, align disparate viewpoints, gather data and build capabilities.
    • 15% Designs, creates and develops informal and formal development solutions to meet organizational needs; analyzes and selects the most appropriate strategy, methodologies and technologies to maximize the learning experience and impact.
    • 15% Develops partnerships with internal clients to engage with multiple sources of feedback to identify initiatives that align with organizational strategic goals and to develop actionable plans to drive employee engagement, and culture building through influencing, educating, and collaborating.
    • 15% Proactively addresses and responds to OD issues by bringing key stakeholders together to assess root causes and performance gaps, implementing and/or supporting implementation of appropriate interventions including project planning, facilitation, instruction, program design, materials development and performance analysis.



    Experience
    Required Qualifications
    • Min 5 years Related professional experience in organizational effectiveness capacity and/or talent or learning and development experience with understanding of assessment, development, delivery and measurement of succession and development programs.



    Preferred Qualifications
    • Min 2 years Human Resources experience

    • Has thorough knowledge and understanding of talent and performance management, culture, organizational development, and HR practices.
    • Demonstrates analytical, problem-solving, project planning and implementation skills.
    • Skilled in facilitation, consulting and relationship building.
    • Strong leadership skills and outstanding written and oral communication and collaboration skills.
    • Demonstrates ability to learn quickly, reason, synthesize and generalize based on information obtained.
    • Proven ability to work in a dynamic work environment and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.



    Preferred Qualifications
    • Proven ability to work with leaders at all levels, as a consultant, facilitator, resource, coach and mentor.
    • Ability to operate independently with limited oversight.
    • Strong understanding of succession planning and change management, and a demonstrated ability to develop and deliver programs for individuals at all levels of the organization.

    The University of California, Office of the President, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position and the pay scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
