The Organizational Development Consultant work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     Job Summary

    The Early Childhood Development Supervisor (ECDS) is responsible for the development and implementation of a program that is developmentally appropriate and provides the maximum learning opportunities for all children in the EIDT classrooms. Parent conferencing, working with an inter-disciplinary team, case management and working cooperatively with local school districts and other agencies in order to provide comprehensive, individualized habilitation programs and services are related responsibilities of this position. It is essential that they demonstrate professionalism, a respect for confidentiality and a commitment to the agency's mission.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Program Management for Assigned Students

    a. Coordinate assigned student’s program services within the interdisciplinary team.

    b. Monitor student’s referral, evaluation, and placement procedures and records.

    c. Maintains student files and documents in compliance with agency and licensing requirements and procedures.

    d. Refer students for therapies, as indicated, for comprehensive and specialized evaluations.

    e. Conduct student evaluations, annual reviews and ITP conferences.

    f. Maintain open communication with pertinent staff and professionals through individual and/or group staff meetings.

    2. Parent and Family Involvement

    a. Develop and maintain cooperation/communication with student’s parents and other family members regarding their needs and the student’s needs, goals, and progress.

    b. Conduct conferences that encourage family participation.

    c. Facilitate access to community resources for families as it applies to the needs of their student/s.

    3. Individual Habilitation Plan

    a. In coordination with the student’s Lead Teacher, develop, implement, and evaluate the individual habilitation program ensuring the student’s needs are addressed.

    b. Assess each student in appropriate domains listed below, to determine current functioning level using formal and informal instruments.

    • Social (attention, turn taking)
    • Self-Help (feeding, toileting, dressing, hygiene)
    • Academic/Cognitive
    • Communication/Language
    • Fine Motor
    • Gross Motor

    c. Develop functional and measurable ITP’s that reflect each student’s current level of performance, chronological age, and needs.

    4. Staff Supervision

    a. Supervise Lead Teachers, Teacher Assistants, and Classroom Support Staff as they implement instructional programs and plans.

    b. Assist the Lead Teacher with the development and maintenance of a classroom management system that implements individualized goals.

    c. Assist with the modification of activities to accommodate ability levels.

    d. Model instructional activities with modifications in small and large group activities

    e. Offer feedback and support in a helpful and supportive manner.

    f. Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports.

    Other Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Work on committees composed of other preschool program staff, parents and/or other agency representatives to address issues and matters affecting the total program or agency.

    2. Participate in 36 hours of staff development and training activities based upon an individual staff development plan updated annually.

    3. Other duties, as assigned, that support the agency mission.

    Qualifications:

    1. Education requirements:

    a. Licensed Developmental, Occupational, Physical or Speech-Language Therapist; OR

    b. Bachelor’s degree plus one of the following:

    • Current Arkansas state certification in Early Childhood or Early Childhood Special Education.
    • A current Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA).
    • A current Birth to pre-K credential.
    • Documented experience working with children with special needs and 12 hours of college coursework in any combination of the following areas:  

    ▪ Early Childhood

    ▪ Child Development

    ▪ Special Education

    ▪ Child and Family Studies.

    2. One year of teaching experience in special education and/or early education preferred.

    3. Experience working with children with developmental delays/disabilities and their families preferred.

    4. Background clearance from the Child and Adult Abuse and Maltreatment Central Registry and Arkansas State Police criminal background check.

    5. Meet agency’s drug screening requirements.

    6. Essential physical and mental requirements to perform the duties of this position include: Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time. Regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must often lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

    Days/Hours: This position is based on the annual in-center staff calendar. Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day to be scheduled between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. as agreed upon with the program director. Additional hours/days may be required to meet the needs of the agency.
