Optometrist provides primary care and medical treatment to patients with visual system disorders and diseases. Examines patients' eyes to detect and diagnose vision problems, diseases, and other conditions, such as diabetes or hypertension. Being an Optometrist develops treatment plans and prescribes eyeglasses, contact lenses, and/or medication to treat eye disorders. Educates patients on proper eye care and treatment plans. Additionally, Optometrist requires a doctorate degree. Requires Licensed Optician. Requires State License to Practice. Typically reports to a manager. Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for the care, direction, and progression of patient care in the area of general Optometry in the outpatient setting of the Community Vision Center within Valley Health Partners Community Health Center (VHP). Responsible for offering high quality eye and vision care with thorough examination and comprehensive treatments. Conducts eye exams using optometric equipment and general diagnostic interpretation. Diagnoses and treats ocular disease. Prescribes, fits, and adjusts eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids. Directs staff and assists in the development of the overall practice.
Minimum qualifications: Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry program.
Preferred qualifications: Two years’ of optometrist experience, preferred. More than two years’ of optometrist experience in a medically needed and underserved community in a community health center or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), preferred.
Training: Board Certification in Optometry
Licensure: Current PA Optometry license. Active Basic Life Support or Advanced Life Support certification.
