Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented OPTOMETRIC biller to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for various tasks related to coding, balance billing, and overseeing front-end billing. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, use of EHR and medical office procedures. Optometric billing experience required
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate codes using ICD-10, ICD-9, and other coding systems
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of claims for reimbursement
- Conduct OPTOMETRIC collections activities, including follow-up on unpaid claims and resolution of billing discrepancies
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation for coding and billing purposes
- Stay up-to-date with changes in coding guidelines and regulations
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with other administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred
- Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) strongly preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding or billing
- Proficient in medical terminology and coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9)
- Familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of medical office procedures and insurance regulations
