Takes precision measurements of eyes using a pupilometer and other devices to ensure proper fit of eyeglasses or contact lenses. Being an Optician assists and advises customers in selecting frames based on their prescription, lifestyle needs, and style preferences. Inspects lenses for quality, fits and adjusts eyewear, and repairs eyewear as needed. Additionally, Optician instructs customer on correct eyeglasses and contact lens care and maintenance. May process work orders and sales. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Applicable License. Requires Licensed Optician. Typically reports to a manager.     An Optician will achieve a world class Total Patient Experience that both maximizes the retail sales but also supports the patients' medical needs. An Optician is trained to dispense and fit glasses and contacts, working from the prescriptions written by Optometrists and Ophthalmologists. They connect the patient needs to the good and services we offer.

    Responsibilities:

    60%

    • Embrace and execute our Total Patient Experience to build relationships with all patients while delivering great medical support
    • Determine patient wants and needs and selling to exceed their expectations
    • Assist patients in selecting frames according to style and color, coordinating frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions
    • Able to operate the auto-lensometer and manual lensometer
    • Educate and recommend specific lenses, lens coatings and frames to suit patient needs
    • Can accurately collect measurements such as bridge, eye size, temple length, seg heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt
    • Dispense patient orders and repair and adjust patient frames
    • Dispense all glasses and/or contact lens orders in E360

    • General office duties and cleaning to be assigned by manager
    • Ensure all job Aids and Policies are followed

    • Acknowledge patients in a friendly, approachable way that invites them into the office
    • Maintain frame standards with cleaning, organization, full and well-presented areas
    • Follow all protocols to keep Frame inventory accurate

    Requirements:

    • Associates Degree; with a minimum of 1 year in a customer interactive position; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Basic computer skills
    • Communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret insurance forms
    • Favorable result on Background Check
    • Must have own vehicle and be insured, licensed driver in current state of residence
    • Must be at least 18 years of age

    Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Have ABOC or obtained with first 2 years of employment (preferred, not required)
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization

    Physical Requirements:
