Ophthalmic Technician provides technical services to assigned ophthalmic patients and assists ophthalmologists or optometrists in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. Takes patient history, conducts visual acuity screenings, and performs various technical procedures, including refractometry, tonometry, lensometry, and keratometry. Being an Ophthalmic Technician prepares patients for exams and procedures. Operates, maintains, and sanitizes ophthalmic equipment and instruments. Additionally, Ophthalmic Technician may assist physicians in performing minor surgical and laser procedures. May dispense contact lenses. Typically requires an associate degree. May require Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA). May require Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT). Typically reports to a manager. Under the direction of the Lead Lighting Technician, assigned lead or supervisor the incumbent provides complete technical support for all entertainment related events property wide. Responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of advanced lighting systems. Must have working knowledge of theatrical lighting, computerized lighting consoles, and electrical concepts. Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends. Position requires frequent standing, walking, leaning, reaching and moderate lifting/carrying weights of up to 100 pounds. Ability to maintain a professional attitude while working under pressure and meet deadlines with a constantly changing event schedule. High school diploma required with three (3) to five (5) years of technical entertainment production experience, or a bachelor degree in a related field. Must be well versed in production/theater terminology. Ability to troubleshoot and assist in the repair of advanced lighting systems. Familiar with DMX and sACN data distribution methods. Ability to operate heavy equipment, such as boom lifts, scissor lifts, and forklifts.
