Ophthalmic Technician provides technical services to assigned ophthalmic patients and assists ophthalmologists or optometrists in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. Takes patient history, conducts visual acuity screenings, and performs various technical procedures, including refractometry, tonometry, lensometry, and keratometry. Being an Ophthalmic Technician prepares patients for exams and procedures. Operates, maintains, and sanitizes ophthalmic equipment and instruments. Additionally, Ophthalmic Technician may assist physicians in performing minor surgical and laser procedures. May dispense contact lenses. Typically requires an associate degree. May require Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA). May require Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT). Typically reports to a manager. Abrams EyeCare is looking for a Ophthalmic Technician in our Carmel location. The Ophthalmic Technician will be responsible for performing eye-related clinical tasks that provide information for the doctors to accurately evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients.
Hours vary from 7:30 – 5 pm Monday – Friday. You will also work one Saturday approximately every 4-6 weeks from 8:00 – 12:00. Work schedule can require travel to a location other than your primary location as needed. Hourly compensation is between $18.00-$22.00 per hour based on experience.
